Tannis Knox, Head Teacher, Pre-Casa 2 Classroom
I have my RECE and have been teaching for 20 years. I started as an educational assistant and then worked as a Nursery School teacher. I then became a director and taught at a Nursery School. At the same time I developed, started and ran a Kinderstart program for a school division.
I moved to Toronto from Winnipeg and I started at MLCP in 2016 as a head teacher for Pre-Casa. I am currently in school working on my Montessori degree.
I live in the Upper Beaches which is lovely for my daily walks with my partner Paul and our black lab Scuba. I enjoy spending time with my two boys and my granddaughter when they visit and when I go to Winnipeg. I enjoy baking and cooking, along with traveling and reading.
There are several reasons why I enjoy teaching. I love watching the individual journey each child takes. I feel teaching is a privilege, not a right. The children teach me as much as I teach them. It's beautiful how they remind me of what's important in life.
